Eraserheads
Eraserheads is a alternative band consisting of four members, Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Hector Zabala, Raymund Marasigan. This band was formed in 1989 while the four padres were attending the University of the Philippines at Diliman. They started off playing gigs which were student-organized-sponsored events held on campus and soon had fans around campus. When they decided to make a demo of their written songs and sent it off to radio stations, clubs, and recording companies, they were denied.
In 1991, they recorded a low-budget album called POP-U. This self-produced album was their official demo tape and some 20 copies were made to be given out to friends and fans. This demo gave them the opportunity to perform at Club Dredd, a underground establishment.
The more they played, the more fans they got. In 1993, BMG Records Philippines signed them up and recorded the band's debut album ULTRAELECTROMAGNETICPOP!. This album got them a lot of public recognition. Songs such as Ligaya and Pare Ko got to the top of the charts of almost every popular radio station in the Philippines. At this point, Eraserheads took the Philippines by storm just like when The Beatles conquered London and later the United States.
